But is it? And more importantly, can it be fixed?

Introduction: The Ghost of Errors Past Few things are more frustrating in modern gaming than settling in for a session of Call of Duty: Ghosts , only to be yanked back to the desktop—or console dashboard—by a cryptic, brick-wall message. For years, players have reported a specific, persistent, and utterly infuriating error: "Fatal Error: Disc Read Error 'Homecoming'."

This error typically occurs during the loading screen or mid-gameplay of the mission "Homecoming" (the 9th mission in the campaign set in a devastated San Diego). It can appear seemingly out of nowhere, locking progression and convincing many players that their save file is corrupted or their disc is destroyed.

By methodically verifying your files (PC), rebuilding your database (PlayStation), or clearing persistent storage (Xbox), you will almost certainly bypass the error and finally push through the Homecoming mission. And once you’ve saved your squad from the ruins of San Diego, you can put this ghost of an error behind you for good.

Happy hunting, soldier. Rorke is waiting.
