Catherine falls deeply in love with Lawrence. However, she soon discovers a terrifying family curse. The brothers are locked in a spell where one remains human while the other transforms into a horrifying beast, forced to live in the castle's dungeons. The brothers take turns suffering this monstrous fate. The "Kiss of the Beast" is the only remedy—but it is a double-edged sword. If a woman willingly kisses the beast form, he becomes human, but the other brother instantly turns into the beast.
